Projects and Objectives

1

Dormitory and Schoolhouse Construction

The essential SGOI project is to build a residential dwelling and a schoolhouse for our boys and girls in Liberia, West Africa. This combined building would provide a safe haven for the children to live and learn until they graduate high school and attend college.

In Liberia, there are no national electricity and water companies. Most people use wells for their water and pricey generators for their electrical needs. Well water is not suitable for drinking and often leads to bacterial diseases. Generators require constant fueling and can only run for as long as the gas supply lasts.

At SGOI, we want to design a building that provides  clean water and around-the-clock electricity for our children to live under suitable conditions.

Meeting these needs is difficult for Liberian schools because the resources are not readily available. Therefore, the project requires a great investment of funds and time. The images below are blueprints of our proposed building. These and more images can be found in our gallery.

Meeting Our Goal

This project will cost at least $75,000.

The price includes the purchase of land and building materials as well as labor costs, plumbing, and electricity.

So far, we have purchased 10 acres of land in Ganta, Liberia with an additional 5 acres of land set aside for agriculture.

With your donations, we hope to accomplish this goal by 2015.

Medical Care

SGOI maintains full responsibility for the medical care of all its children. This is an ongoing cost that our organization must fund as often as our students need it.

Education

Currently, all of the children of SGOI are attending school. The students' grade levels range from first grade to university.

Future Goals

We would like to expand our education system by providing resources to young mothers who have been left disadvantaged after the recent civil wars. We can do this by instituting programs to promote literacy and living self-sufficiently.

Also, we would like to expand to assist children with mental disabilities in Liberia. The construction of our proposed dormitory and schoolhouse would give SGOI a place to house and educate both special students and mothers.

Goal

To keep our children healthy and happy, we ask that all of our supporters continue to give to our cause
